Meet Lisamarie, a wife and mom of four kids all under the age of 11 whose passion is taking care of her family. Her daughter and three sons keep her busy during the week, running from activities like Cub Scouts meetings to basketball practices or trying to keep up with the laundry and household chores. On the weekends, Lisamarie works as a freelance Makeup Artist for the wedding industry in the Greater Grand Rapids area. She states, “ I love being a small part of such a big day in a couple’s love story.”  However, while she helped the bride feel beautiful, she ended up feeling physically drained after spending seven plus hours on her feet while holding her upper body in a forward slouching position. Despite her busy weeks, staying in shape remains important to her. She is conscious of keeping her workouts balanced by mixing it up with weight lifting and classes like boot camp and spin at the local YMCA. However, after suffering from an injury post child-birth, caring for her children, performing at work, and completing her workouts became incredibly difficult.

Immediately after the birth of her daughter in 2017, Lisamarie began experiencing numbness and weakness in her right leg. This being her forth natural labor, she thought that her body just needed more time to recover; however, waiting months to recover turned into years of living with pain. Ten years devoted largely to pregnancy, labor, nursing and child care had taken its toll on the right side of her body. Lisamarie didn’t want to live that way any longer so she went to her PCP and OB to request a referral to Barbara Robinet and Robinet Physical Therapy. Being a past women’s health patient of Barbara’s, Lisamarie states she felt comfortable and confident in Barbara’s care.

Since receiving treatments from Barbara, she has experienced relief from the numbness in her right leg.  Lisamarie says, “Barb has shown care, concern and has educated me on the reasons for my injury. . . . Barbara has continued to reach out to me to provide recommendations and guidance on how I can maintain my treatment through [a] home exercise program. I am very appreciative of her care over the past two years and would highly recommend her service!”
